According to the latest Barometer of Public Works of AICCOPN, in the same period 3,900 public tenders were promoted, a reduction of 30.3% compared to the 5,596 procedures recorded in the same period of 2025.
Until August, the value of public works contracts concluded exclusively by public tender and reported on the Base Portal was EUR 2,299 million, corresponding to an annual contract of 28%.
In contrast, contracts concluded by direct adjustment or prior consultation have grown by 31% each year, reaching an amount of EUR 580 million.
Considering all public works contracts concluded and reported on the Base Portal, the amount awarded in the first eight months of 2026 amounted to 3,148 million euros, corresponding to an annual fall of 20%.
According to AICCOPN, this development reflects the positive contribution of the contracts concluded in August, which “allowed significantly” the cumulative fall recorded over 2026.
