O growth of smart glasses as a category of consumer technology threatens to become a privacy problem, especially if manufacturers do not take steps to ensure it. In the meantime, it seems that these gadgets remain the cause of some problems and a user has now even been the subject of a criminal prosecution.

According to the Korean website JoongAng Daily, a man in South Korea was caught wearing glasses equipped with Artificial Intelligence during an examination while applying for an engineer's fire protection license.

The examination in question took place in May in the city of Gwangju, and the situation was detected by one of the people who monitors the examination. After noticing a strange light that was reflected on the lens of the glasses, the inspector confronted the applicant for the license and the confession was made shortly after to the investigators.

“ I developed an artificial intelligence application that works with smart glasses and wanted to be able to generate right answers during a real exam.”, answered the suspect to the investigators.

The publication states that the man in question will now have to deal with criminal charges for breaking the law in South Korea, and also during the month of May, two other men have been identified who have also tried to handle tests with smart glasses equipped with AI in other examinations in the capital Seoul and in the city of Mokpo.

Cases are serving as a warning for new forms of cabling in tests, examinations or applications and the problem may get worse as more companies launch their own smart glasses.

Remember that Samsung should soon reveal its own smart glasses and, according to rumors, Apple is also developing its own proposal.

Lord criticizes smart glasses in concert

The musical artist best known as Lord was one of the great names in the latest NOS Alive in Portugal and it seems that, before acting in national lands, he took advantage of a well-known festival in Madrid, Spain, to make considerations about smart glasses.

During the performance on July 9 at the Mad Cool festival, Lord criticized the use of smart glasses, noting that it was increasingly difficult to know (today) what is either true or real.

“ You don't know if someone's wearing sunglasses or those horrible [intelligible] glasses... Just so you know, screw the [intelligent] glasses. Don't wear glasses. They’re not sexy at all”, declared Lord.

It is important, however, to stress that the statements of the New Zealand musical artist were made at a festival where Ray-Ban – who collaborates with Meta in developing smart glasses – is one of the great sponsors of the event.

Moreover, Lord's performance preceded Jennie's stage entrance (a member of the Korean pop group Blackpink), who is also a well-known ambassador of Ray-Ban Meta glasses and has participated in several advertisements for this gadget.

Also remember that Meta is one of the main players in the smart glasses market, which are equipped with microphones, audio outputs and cameras that allow you to capture photos and video.
