A North Korea warned on Wednesday (local time) the United States that it will give a firmer response to what the influential sister of leader Kim Jong Un classified as a “immutable hostile policy” of Washington.
“ In the current reality, in which new records are set in the implementation of the US hostile policy towards the DPRK (North Korea), it is natural that new records are also set in our counter-offensive retaliation,” said Kim Yong, quoted by the official news agency KCNA.
The North Korean leader’s sister had already harshly criticized the FBI’s (American Federal Police) allegations that North Korea would be responsible for the record $6.3 billion cyberattack against the Binance cryptocurrency platform, stating that the country “restrainedly opposes” cyber attacks.
“We do not regard the Binance invasion incident as a fortuitous and sudden affair, nor as an isolated private action, but as an extension of Washington’s unchanging hostile policy towards the DPRK,” Kim Yo Jong said.
“ It is clear that the malicious attempt by the United States to gain political and strategic advantage by exploiting this case has political consequences,” he added.
The FBI stated on Saturday that a group of affiliate hackers in North Korea called TraderTraitor was responsible for the attack.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Kim Yo Jong rejected this version, classifying it as a “serious political provocation”.
North Korea conducted on Monday a strategic cruise missile launch test equipped with a new submunition warhead, according to KCNA.
North Korea, which has nuclear weapons, has recently tested a variety of weapons, including attack drones, a new precision guided torpedo system and a hypersonic mid-range missile.
In his new statement, Kim Yo Jong implied that Pyongyang saw little interest in resuming the diplomatic route.
“ It is clear to us that we have no reason to sit at the table with people so unreliable and hostile, who refuse to abandon their policy of confrontation, while speaking in dialogue”, he stressed.
