O portuguese professional golfer Daniel Rodrigues visited Portugal Legends Championhip and Pinheirinho Golf Course, “a diamond” still little known, on his return to Portugal, before the final straight of the season at the DP World Tour.

“ I love this place. I think this is a diamond a lot of people don't know about. After coming here the first time, he never wanted to go anywhere else,” says Miramar Golf Club professional, describing Comporta’s 18-hole field as “super challenging, very well treated, with a very good design and its tricks”.

Taking advantage of the invitation of Vic Property, owner of the project and the layout designed by the Portuguese architect Jorge Santana da Silva, Daniel Rodrigues praised the return of the European professional circuit to Portugal for over 50 years, confessing to Lusa have good memories of the last event in Vidago.

“ I volunteered at that time on my birthday and so I always had a special fondness for the exam, because I was young and I liked to be close to the tournament. It’s very good that you’re back in Portugal and that it’s in Pinheirinho,” he said, arguing that seeing “lendas playing ball is exciting to want to continue training and is always an extra motivation.”

At age 24, the young professional is about to close the season as ‘rookie’ on the DP World Tour, currently appearing at 63rd place in the ‘Race to Dubai’ (ranking), and having already secured the card for the next season, on the eve of traveling to Abu Dhabi, where he will play the penultimate tournament of the season.

“ It has been a spectacular year, that is, in general it has been very positive. I reached the main goal of the season in May, which was to keep my card so I could play next year. With the Qualification School card, it is very complicated for you to be able to make your calendar, because you do not know where you enter, where you do not enter, and the fact that you played very well at the beginning helped me to have exemptions to play by the end of the year”, said the one who was ranked second in the Turkey Open in May.

Daniel Rodrigues, who debuted on the DP World Tour after passing the Qualification School in 2025, says he is “very happy and ready to turn the page and start the season already in November”.

“It begins in Australia. You can never be in a rest mode, because the season ends in November and the new one starts right after. I'm gonna go with the same mindset because, as much as I played well this year, I don't have anything guaranteed in 2027, it's the same for everyone. People come from the Qualification School, the Challenge Tour, and they're gonna have the same rock-breaking mentality I had last year. If I do not go into this mentality, I will already be after others ", justified, without wanting to point out concrete objectives.

Despite the high competitive level, Daniel da Costa Rodrigues, who won four ‘top 10’ in 28 tournaments this year, assures that he was not surprised at the level practiced at the DP World Tour.

“ He was very well aware and, with this change in Liv Golf, made the ‘fields’ much better. Many of Liv's players received invitations and added a lot of level, as well as DP World Tour players. Many of them go to the PGA Tour and manage to keep the card and compete. Mattieu Pavon, for example, won first year. That is, it is a level that I already knew existed and we have to try to accompany it ", stressed, also referring to compatriot Ricardo Melo Gouveia, the other Portuguese member of the circuit.
