The Spanish authorities have handed over to PJ a 19-year-old, detained in the neighbouring country following a European warrant. The suspect will have, along with two friends, broken into an elderly woman's house in Anadia, eventually stealing and raping.

Um 19-year-old Portuguese girl, suspected of stealing and raping an elderly woman in Anadia, was captured in Spain following a European arrest warrant, and now handed over to the Judicial Police (PJ).
In a statement sent this Friday, October 30, to News to Minutes, PJ reveals that the young man “reduces strong suspicions of the practice of theft and rape crimes, whose investigation is in charge of the Department of Criminal Investigation of Aveiro”.
The facts occurred in the municipality of Anadia, on 1 July 2024, in a residence where the now detained and his co-authors “forced entry, although in the interior there is a resident, already octogenarian, who was manipulated and raped during the course of the crime”.
Against the extradited “a European arrest warrant had been issued” by the judicial authorities of the Aveiro District, the inspectors stress, “which has now been fulfilled, with the collaboration of the International Cooperation Unit of the PJ, the result of the close cooperation between the Judicial Police and the Spanish police authorities”.
He also notes the Judiciary that, despite the young man being only 19 years old, he already “had extensive police references for the previous practice of similar crimes”.
In July and August 2024 the other two suspects of the crimes committed in Anadia against the elderly were arrested in Portugal. Both have, however, been tried and sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for the practice of criminal offences.
The young man arrested in Spain was now subjected to first judicial interrogation in the district of Aveiro, and the most serious measure of coercion was applied to him, that of preventive imprisonment.
