Dolly Parton, who died on August 25, at the age of 80, was buried in a private ceremony last Friday, August 28.
The information was confirmed by the niece-granddaughter, Lainey Parton, who made a new share on his Instagram page on August 29.
Recalling old photos of moments he lived with his great aunt over all these years, Lainey Parton also wrote an emotional text where he begins by confessing that it was “very difficult for him to make such publication”.
“I wanted to wait until my great aunt was buried yesterday [August 28], before trying to put it all in words,” she explained.
“ Ever since I was little, my great-aunt always had a way of making me feel like I was enough. She never made my dreams look too big or made me feel like I couldn't do anything. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself”, she recalled.
“ Most people can remember at least one bad memory with each family member. Honestly, I can't remember one with her. Since she couldn't have biological children, she always made us feel like we were hers. He loved us in this way, and I will be eternally grateful for it”, he revealed.
“ One memory that I will keep forever was when she asked me to sing with her on her album “Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables”. And I was in the first year of high school and I was very nervous. But she had a way of making me feel like nothing bad could happen. She made me feel safe, confident and as if my place was right next to her,” she said.
“ As I grew up, she continued to believe me. When I told her I wanted to go to beauty school, she never questioned why I didn't go to college. He told me I couldn't imagine doing anything else. He supported me financially during my studies and helped me take the first steps in my career. He did not just tell me to pursue my dreams, he helped me reach them,” he said.
“ I'm very grateful that I accepted the opportunities and memories I could share with her while my Aunt Dolly, including being in a movie with her. I'm very happy to have those moments to remember now. I have things I can see, hear and keep with me when I miss you”, he added.
“ It still doesn't seem real that she's gone. I'm gonna miss your voice, your laughter, your hugging and just knowing she was here. I'll even miss those calls at 4:00 in the morning, and I'd give anything to see her name appear on my phone again ", confided.
“ Thank you to all who came in contact, sent messages, flowers to my home or made any of those little gestures to show me affection. I noticed every one of them, and they meant more than you know. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to call you Grandma. Thank you for always believing in me, for loving me and for making me feel like I was capable of anything. I love you, Grandma. Forever,” he said.
