The British pilot Elfyn Evans (Toyota Yaris) was a world rally champion for the first time, despite the fifth place in the Italian rally, the final race of the season.

ANDvans finished at 4.48.1 minutes from the winner, Swedish Oliver Solberg (Toyota Yaris), who beat the French Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris) for 57.6 seconds, with Finnish Sami Pajari (Toyota Yaris) in third, at 1.37.4 minutes.
Solberg entered the last special to a point of Evans in the championship, but made a mistake in the last meters when preparing to beat the British, delivering the world title by five points.
