Gustavo Event Santos raises doubts: It's free... but you pay 20 euros

Gustavo Santos has been preparing for months an event that will take place at the CNEMA (National Center for Agricultural Exhibitions and Markets) in Santarém, a place with capacity for 1200 people in amphitheater format, next October 10. 

“Awake Portugal” promises to bring the “best health professionals” to the stage where topics such as “self-love, autism, nutrition, cancer, vaccines, among many more” will be addressed, can be read on the social networks of the “Man of the Earth”, as the former host of “Honey, I changed the House”. 

This event is still advertised as “free”, but if we go to the page where you can book the place, the information says that 20 euros must be made available for this purpose. 

“In order to ensure a better organization of the event, the reservation of place implies a reservation value of €20, to ensure the logistical organization of the meeting, which can be made by MBWay or bank transfer”, you can read it. 

“ This value acts as a sign of commitment in the reservation of the place and will be returned on the day of the event to whom you request it”, also refers to the registration form of the event. However, if the person does not go and does not notify in time, until September 15, “he will not be entitled to return the value”.

More. It can still be read that “after this date, and in case of no show at the event, the amount paid will be considered as a support contribution to the Movement Association AGREEMENT, contributing to the development of its activities”.

According to the newspaper Take in Network, the event in the city of Santarém is generally some controversy. The councilman of PS Pedro Ribeiro wants this to be cancelled because he considers that the entrepreneur has disclosed alarmist information and without scientific support on issues such as vaccines. 

“Gustavo Santos has publicly assumed positions on health, vaccination, medicines and medical treatments that have been the subject of fact-checks and contestation by professionals and entities related to science and medicine. Among other statements, they were found to be false allegations of vaccine safety and vaccination against hepatitis B. More recently, their statements on diphtheria and tetanus have also been analyzed, having specialists in the area of vaccines considered some of these claims inaccurate and potentially dangerous to public health ", wrote on Facebook. 

On the other hand, according to the same medium, the mayor of Santarém, João Teixeira Leite, believes that this prohibition would be “a form of prior censorship”, which he attributes to non-democratic countries.

Gustavo Santos talks about chemotherapy

Gustavo Santos has made several polemic statements over time on health issues, particularly about vaccines, as described above, and also on cancer treatments. 

In a recent interview with the Observer about his movement Awake Portugal and the Association Movement Awake, he uttered phrases such as that he only has cancer who “chooses to live with anger, resentment, hatred, guilt and shame”. Regarding chemotherapy, he assumed that this treatment is “a way to draw money”. 

For Gustavo Santos, the real cure is to do “sauna, infrared, good food and fasting”. 

Nuno Markl, with whom the former host, has already exchanged several splinters over time, reacted on social networks.

“It’s being rude. An oncologic patient or the family of an oncologic patient having to read such an alarvity is inhuman [... ] I witnessed in the IPO the hardness of seeing little children suffering. Anger? Rancor? Hate? Guilt? Shame? O Lord, go inside. Go to the sauna”, wrote Markl.
