A time Formula E it's in its final phase, with António Félix da Costa in the fight for the world title. This weekend (25th and 26th July) is the Tokyo Prize in the capital of Japan.
It's a stage in city circuit, which compresses two rounds – one on Saturday, another on Sunday, both qualified and race in independent format. At this point, the leadership belongs to Pascal Wehrlein.
Porsche German adds 141 points and comes from his best journey of the year, which allowed him to distance himself from Mitch Evans (Jaguar) – which is nine points away. In third follows Oliver Rowland (Nissan), 27 points from the top.
Then comes António Félix da Costa. To fulfill his first season in service of Jaguar, Portuguese has not had an easy campaign: he already has four podiums, including two victories, but also suffered some misfortunes that prevent him from getting better positioned at this final stage.
In any case, the pilot who also competes for the World Resistance (WEC) is fully within the fight for the title – just like some other rivals. There are 30 late points for the leader and, on the limit, you can even leave Tokyo in charge of the championship, as 58 points are in dispute this weekend.
However, can't afford to lose ground: if you finish this stage with 58 delay points, hopes end. To remember that António Félix da Costa was a Formula Champion And in 2020, when the championship still didn't have the status of World AIF.
In a statement, Luso said: “It’s a very important weekend for me and Jaguar, not only because it’s a double race, but also because if we want to fight for this title, we have to win points for the top three of the championship. We did our homework well in the simulator, with a thorough preparation of every possible scenario for this weekend, now it's time to attack, give everything and bring two good results from Tokyo. It will be a very challenging and spectacular race, we will fight with all the claw and sense of mission”.
Tokyo Street Circuit debuted in the Formula And in 2024, being revised in 2025. In its present form, it has 18 curves, with a lap extending for 2,575 km. The record running time is 1m14,753 seconds, but the best lap ever was established by Oliver Rowland in 1m12,615 seconds.
