O film “Du fioul dans les artères”, French director Pierre Le Gall, won the 12th edition of Queer Porto, which ended today with a record of over 2,100 viewers, announced the organization.
Pierre Le Gall's first feature film, premiered at Cannes Festival Review Week, where he received the Queer Palm Révelation Award, was distinguished by the Official Competition jury, highlighting the way he portrays a love story in the context of social prejudice, labor exploitation and oppression.
The jury, composed by writer and jurist Joana Ferraz, programmer and producer Joana Gusmão and curator and professor Juan Luis Toboso, considered this to be “a film that portrays the rarity in finding beauty in a world of ugliness and oppression”, able to convey hope.
The prize consists of the acquisition of the film's exhibition rights by RTP, worth 3,000 euros.
In the same competition, the film "Something You Should Know About Me", by Andy Fidoten, received a special mention.
Started at the Tribeca festival, the feature film is a romantic comedy that combines real image and animation, performed by a mostly trans team, about a young cartoonist and his feelings for his best friend.
The Official Competition Audience Award was awarded to the documentary “What Will I Become?” by Lexie Bean and Logan Rozos, which accompanies the story of two young trans-Americans who died of suicide, addressing the vulnerability of the trans-male community.
In the fifth edition of the Portuguese Short Film Competition, in which ten films were presented, the award for best film was awarded to “April de Helena”, by Maria Moreira and Victor Hugooli, who will receive 500 euros, awarded by the Rectory of the University of Porto.
It is a 20-minute work on the intimacy of a changing family and the importance of networks of care and affection.
The jury also gave a special mention to the Portuguese short film “Semei Vermelho”, by Sofia Afonso, highlighting the aesthetic proposal and the direction of actors.
In this category, the jury included researcher and professor Diogo Nóbrega, master student Lia Chaves and director Mariana Bártolo.
This year's edition featured 28 sessions, a program that included works focused on adolescence, support networks, lesbian and feminist cinema, and the presence of 31 national and international guests, mostly filmmakers.
According to the organization, the event recorded a public record, with 20% more than in 2025, having exhausted sessions of the films “Garance” and “La Bola Negra”.
The festival ended today with the exhibition of the feature film “Six Months in El Edificio Rosa con Azul”, by Mexican director Bruno Santamaría Razo.
