Paulo Fonseca's reaction to the victory in the debut for Sporting

Paulo Fonseca, coach of Sporting, in statements to Sport TV, soon after the victory before Moreirense (1-0), in play of the 11th journey of the I League. 

Analysis: “Principally for what we did in the first part, we deserved another result. The Moreirense had no clear occasion to mark. I've seen very positive things, considering the two days we've had to train. I saw an aggressive Sporting in the first phase of construction. The Moreirense had many difficulties to begin its construction. With a ball, there's a lot to get better, depending on what I want for the team. We had good things in the first part and then with 1-0 we lowered the intensity. We can better manage the ball game. We lost a lot of balls in the second half. There's a lot to improve, but I'm extremely pleased because the team showed us things we've been working on and talking about. We must continue to work to evolve.”. 

What you asked the players: “ We have to go to the most general, not long. The players were in recovery when they started training with me. It's a lot of video about certain situations. For example, I insisted a lot on the pressure and I think we did, especially in the first part. We had an excellent reaction to losing the ball and created many situations in the first part. I am satisfied with what was asked of the players.”. 

Untouchable midfield trio, Irankunda and William in the wings: “ We must not forget that William and Irankunda did not play the last game. They were cooler and we knew we'd be facing a low-level team. We needed fresh people. They were fine.”.

It was a special moment for me to get on this lawn as a Sporting coach. The fans have always supported the team. What can be expected better than a victory at the premiere? It was very special”.
