Three men tried to take 3,000 tarantulas hidden in stockings to Germany, according to information from Peru’s National Forest and Wildlife Service. They wanted to sell them in Europe.

According to the authorities, arachnids can be sold in Europe for a basic price of EUR 500, which means that the three suspects could have profited more than 1.5 million from the amount of spiders in their possession.
Tarantulas came from various regions of Peru and were found in different stages of development, from eggs and newborns to adults.
