Na statement without the right to questions after the Council of Ministers meeting, Luís Montenegro stressed that without the reduction in the ISP that has been being made since March “gasoline would already cost about EUR 2,30 today and diesel around EUR 2,40”.
“ This ISP discount means, by the end of the year, a tax reduction of about EUR 1,300 million, money that stays with taxpayers. If we add to this value all other decisions, government intervention returns EUR 2,300 million to taxpayers,” he said.
In this respect, it included the discounts of the ISP, the decrease of the IRS and the new pension supplement, support for the solidary gas tank, support for sectors most affected by the increase in fuel, support for fertilizers and energy for farmers and also revenue from creating an extraordinary contribution of solidarity on the extraordinary profits of the oil sector.
Among the measures adopted today in the Council of Ministers is a further reduction in the Income Tax for Singular Persons (IRS), an extraordinary supplement for pensioners, EUR 38 million in support of sectors particularly exposed to fuel costs and the extension of the mechanism for reducing the Petroleum and Energy Tax (ISP) by the end of the year.
These measures also include the extension of the Green Railway Pass, which will cover urban trains in Lisbon and Porto and Fertagus, while maintaining the price of EUR 20 per month, according to the statement available on the Government Portal.
