Cinco people were displaced today following the flood of a dwelling in the municipality of Santa Cruz, in Madeira, indicated the Municipal Civil Protection Service, stating that the situation is being monitored by municipal services.

In an information about the occurrences recorded due to bad weather, the civil protection of Santa Cruz highlights “a flood in a dwelling in Santo António da Serra, which led to the displacement of a household of five people”.

Civil protection adds that the family is being monitored by municipal services.

Among the 19 occurrences registered by the Municipal Service of Santa Cruz, between 07 and 21:00, following the adverse weather conditions caused by depression Bruna, the municipality also highlights the fall of trees on Garajau Road and Regional Road 202, between Poso and Santo da Serra, “which forced the conditioning of road traffic”.

“ Of the 19 occurrences, eight were resolved by the Sapadores de Santa Cruz Fire Department and 11 by the Municipal Civil Protection Service, in conjunction with other entities. So far, there is no record of victims”, it can be read in the same information.

Madeira is being affected by Bruna depression, with heavy rain, wind and sea agitation.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) put the archipelago under orange warning due to the strong wind, with gusts up to 100 km/h, until the end of today, then to yellow.

The orange alert is also in force due to precipitation, “sometimes strong, persistent and accompanied by thunder,” until 03:00 on Sunday.

The orange warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high-risk weather situation” and yellow when there is a “risk situation for certain weather-dependent activities”.

Funchal’s captaincy has also issued strong wind warnings and maritime unrest and poor visibility, calling on the population to adopt appropriate precautions.

At Madeira Airport, the movement is conditioned due to adverse weather conditions, with several cancellations and planes to diverge throughout the day.

Civil Protection of Madeira recorded 26 occurrences due to bad weather

The Madeira Civil Protection Service registered 26 occurrences due to the passage of depression Bruna, between 08:00 and 18:00, mainly related to falls of trees and road cleaning.
