O israel's army conducted searches at the headquarters of two Palestinian NGOs in the occupied West Bank, including Addameer, which is dedicated to documenting human rights violations and providing legal assistance to prisoners.
This NGO was accused by the Israeli army of being financed by “terrorist funds” of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (FPLP).
“ The solidarity association Addameer is funded with funds for terrorism and provides legal assistance to FPLP terrorists arrested ", said today the Army in a statement, in which it clarified that the search operation took place on Tuesday.
The FPLP is a secular left-wing Palestinian movement, which has a political party and an armed arm, which has perpetrated lethal attacks on Israelis.
Israel, Canada and Europe, among others, consider the FPLP a terrorist organisation.
NGO director Sahar Francis denied the news agency EFE such accusation and said that Addameer does not receive any funding, has no bank accounts, (Israel designated it as a “terrorist” NGO in 2021 along with another five), although he stressed that he previously received funds from international organizations.
On Tuesday, the Army also conducted another operation at the headquarters of the Islamic Association for Orphan Care in Yatta, south of the West Bank, which accused in today’s statement of “working as an organized and financial arm” of Hamas.
“ During the operation, people were arrested and materials were seized that had trademarks associated with funds for Hamas,” adds the text.
In response, Palestinian organizations defending the rights of prisoners today condemned, in another statement, “the continued persecution by Israeli occupying authorities” against civil society, a policy that ensures that it has intensified “since the genocide began” in Gaza.
