O israeli army announced today that it had killed two Palestinian citizens after an attack with an automatic weapon in the south of the occupied West Bank, which made five wounded, according to Israel's relief teams.
“ After a shooting attack in Judea, the soldiers eliminated the two terrorists,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
The relief services reported that there were five injured, two of which are in serious condition.
Images released by rescue teams showed a lifeless body near a gas station, while Israeli soldiers patrolled the site.
The attack provoked the cancellation of all campaign actions by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, scheduled for today.
Benjamin Netanyahu gave instructions to cancel all political events scheduled for today following the bombing, in which the army reported killing two people, indicated a statement from the Likud, party led by the Prime Minister.
Elections in Israel will take place on October 27.
Also Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir today called for the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority in response to this attack in the West Bank.
“It should not be expected to occur on October 7th [in the West Bank]. That is where the next war will start”, said the minister of the far right in a statement.
“The Palestinian Authority must be dismantled and demilitarized,” he added.
Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and that triggered the war in Gaza, violence has worsened in the West Bank, a territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
At least 1,113 Palestinians have been killed in the region since October 2023, most by Israeli soldiers, according to the balance sheet prepared by the French Presse Agency based on data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The United Nations noted that 37 people were killed by Israeli settlers.
According to the figures released by Israel, at least 49 Israeli citizens were killed in the same period, most in attacks carried out by Palestinians, but also during military operations.
