Segundo comunicação da Escola da Noite, the Canadian artist, who stood out as a member of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, was co-founder of the Black Ox Orkestar and who since 2015 has been working mainly on solo, shows a record “composed in a context of urgent political clashes”.
“The album reflects on struggles for liberation, mourning and resilience, with special attention to Palestinian cause and freedom.”.
Dedicated “to a free Palestine in our lifetime”, “Unfolding” supports Jessica Moss’ concert in Coimbra, beginning at 21:30 on September 5th.
Inspired by genres such as “post-classical, environmental metal, Eastern European folklore, ‘drone’ and a myriad of other traditions” that merges through violin, voice and electronics, Moss builds “a ceremonial sound universe”, which reveals itself to be “a deeply emotional musical experience”.
This is not the first time the artist has moved for the Palestinian cause.
In 2024, Jessica Moss digitally released the album “For UNRWA”, an initiative to raise funds for aid to the Palestinian people, later shown at the Museo Burel in Belluno, Italy, as part of a programme on art and resistance.
Before this concert in Portugal, from 03 to 10 September, the violinist and composer heads a residence for young musicians from Coimbra, aged between 12 and 18 years old, who study instruments of the violin family.
According to the Night School, the objective is to “know other forms of work, composition and creation” and to stimulate “experiment and curiosity for discovery”.
The residence ends with a final concert on September 10.
