“Joana Marques Guiltada or Indecent?” is the title of the documentary, written and performed by Elza Cordeiro – still without a date needs a premiere – that “invites viewers to reflect on a case that has largely exceeded the walls of the court and has become one of the most commented stories in Portugal”.
According to Prime Video, the film includes “a reconstruction of events, archive images and an analysis of key moments that marked the lawsuit”, which ended with Joana Marques’ absolution last October.
The documentary also includes testimonies of public figures such as Manuel Luís Goucha, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, Fernando Alvim, Luana Piovani and David Fonseca, and reveals how the judicial process also inspired the humorist to do the live show “In Sede Propria”, which had more than a dozen performances last May, in Lisbon and Porto.
Joana Marques' acquittal concerns a case related to the publication of a video on social networks, which is an assembly that intercalates excerpts from Nélson Rosado and Sérgio Rosado (Anjos) singing the national anthem in a MotoGP test in Portimão, in April 2022, with derogatory reactions taken from the program “Idols”.
The musicians wanted Joana Marques to pay a compensation of 1,118,500 euros, a value they considered to have lost in shows, but the Central Civil Court of Lisbon understood that “no proof of loss of 10,000 euros was presented as a result of the Porto concert, with only reference to not having exhausted the stocking”.
For the court, it is not possible to prove that Joana Marques “fed the hatred and censorship that permeates the messages”, nor that the humorist has “any prejudice or enmity” in relation to the two singers.
