“ A Juventus was sanctioned with a fine of EUR 10,000, after a small percentage of his supporters, concentrated on the first ring of the south bench, have clearly not respected the minute of silence decreed by the Italian Football Federation ", said the body in a statement.
According to FIGC, the penalty, which could reach 50,000 euros, was mitigated due to “a rapid takeover of the club in relation to the deplorable behavior, as well as the demarcation of the rest of the public”.
Before the start of all the meetings of the fifth day of the Italian League last weekend, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Mazzola, emblematic player of Inter Milan and the Italian team, who died on Saturday at 83 years old, but which was not respected before the reception of Juventus to Atalanta.
Even before the end of the meeting, the Turin club condemned, in a statement, the behavior of its supporters, considering that “there is no rivalry that can justify the lack of respect during a minute of silence”.
“Honoring the memory and joining in memory during moments of homage is a common responsibility that goes beyond what club one belongs to or the colors that they dress”, wrote the ‘vecchia signora’.
