ANDthese positions were assumed by José Luís Carneiro after the speech of António José Seguro at the end of the ceremony, after confronted with the greeting made by the head of state to the approach between the executive PSD/CDS and PS for the feasibility of the state budget for 2027.
José Luís Carneiro first praised the intervention of the President of the Republic and sought to emphasize the idea that the PS advocates political stability and, as such, would never allow the country to fall into a political crisis in the current situation.
On the feasibility of the state budget proposal for 2027, said: “We have assurances that the government will review the Constitution with the PS.”.
“The Constitution defends values that we are highlighting today, namely the right to housing, the right to health, the right to decent work, the right to a dignified living condition. The Constitution is a concrete translation of common life options and our common home that makes our national community want to remain a qualified democracy, to respond to decent living conditions for people,” he said.
José Luís Carneiro then changed the subject and launched a challenge to the PSD, which, last week, in Parliament, announced an agreement with the Enough to review the rental law.
“I demand that the Government let fall into the Assembly of the Republic the agreement that it made with the Aquira. An agreement that particularly launches older and younger people in conditions of grave precariousness as to income and the safety of having a home to carry out their future life project. This is a fundamental requirement”, he said.
The socialist leader argued that he has “alternative proposals to ensure security for owners and also security for tenants”.
“ So the government would like to accept the proposals that the PS presented in the Assembly of the Republic”, he added, after having praised the speech made by the President of the Republic at the solemn session commemorating the implementation of the Republic in Portugal, in Praça do Município, in Lisbon, in which the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro was also present.
