Mais 450 migrants arrived today in the Canary Islands, including 143 rescued in the most overcrowded airship that is registered on this migratory route, while about 600 were transferred from El Hierro to Tenerife.
The Spanish Marine Rescue rescued 143 people, including 10 women and five minors, who followed a pneumatic vessel about 50 miles from the island of Lanzarote.
The rescue vessel Guardamar Polimnia went to the site and, after making the rescue, began the transport of migrants to Arrecife, where the arrival was scheduled for about 13:00 locals, according to sources of the Maritime Rescue cited by the Spanish agency EFE.
It is the pneumatic vessel with the highest number of occupants ever registered on the Canaryian migration route, exceeding the previous maximum, registered on Monday, when 132 people were rescued alive and recovered two corpses.
Since the summer, pneumatic vessels with more than a hundred occupants began to arrive in the Canary Islands, with 122 registered in July, 111 in August, 107 in September and 125 in October.
However, since midnight today, 314 other people have arrived on the island of El Hierro on board three precarious vessels, according to sources of emergency services.
During the early hours, about 600 migrants who had arrived in El Hierro in the last few days were transferred to Tenerife in a special ferry, with new transfers being planned on the regular sea links between the two islands throughout the day.
Not counting today's arrivals, almost 5,000 migrants have reached the Canary Islands since early November, most of which landed in El Hierro.
In the face of pressure on public services, the island government of El Hierro declared a social emergency.
