“ Malas of a thousand DDoS attacks were recorded against Russian infrastructure involved in the electoral process,” said President of the Electoral Commission, Ella Pamfilova, quoted by the French news agency Agence France-Press (AFP), from Russian news agencies.

The DDoS attacks usually aim to make computer servers unavailable, flooding them with false traffic.

“ The attacks were carried out by highly professional and well-coordinated groups, using artificial intelligence tools and came mainly from “from abroad,” Ella Pamfilova needed.

According to the responsible, the attacks also aimed at “Russia’s telecommunications infrastructure as a whole”, with “at present all signs of Ukrainian interference”.

On Saturday, the Electoral Commission had already reported that the electronic voting system had been the subject of a “very powerful cyberattack” that persisted throughout the day.

The Russian legislative elections have been held since Friday and, according to the electoral authorities, until this morning, the last day of the ballot, they voted more than 45% of the more than 111 million Russians registered to elect the 450 members of the Duma, the lower House of Parliament.

On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine and since then the war has already cost hundreds of thousands of civilian and military lives to both countries, according to various sources.
