Oprotesters gathered in a popular assembly in the Baixa de Lisboa decided to demobilize and return to Praça do Rossio at 19:00, according to spokesman Priscilla Valadão.

“ We will decide at 19:00 whether we continue camping or any other form of struggle,” said Priscilla Valadão, spokesman for the protesters, after the popular assembly.

According to the protester, and according to a new assessment, 50 people in total were arrested today in the camp of Rossio Square, and the protesters have legal support.

Priscilla Valadão said that the protesters know what police stations the detainees are in, adding that lawyers will intercede to find out concrete data on the situation.

At 8:30, the number of protesters did not exceed 50 and the police presence was less visible in Figueira Square.

The same spokesman also said that the actions scheduled for 19:00 will be carried out in coordination with the protesters of the Porto city camp.

Car traffic was being restored at 08:30, municipal cleaning continued and the entrance of the Lisbon Metropolitan station to Rossio station by Praça da Figueira was conditioned by PSP for safety reasons.

According to images transmitted by televisions, just before 06:00, the PSP gave an ultimatum to the present, demanding the end of the Camp, in an operation launched simultaneously with another against the camp in Porto.

The protesters first formed a human cordon to delay the intervention of the PSP, but the Intervention Corps advanced against the group and held several arrests, with some activists accusing police officers of aggression.

The Camp of Lisbon, with the motto “Can’t you? Then build your tent!”, I had decided this morning to maintain the protest against living conditions and the crisis in the housing, although the police “solicited the way out to avoid a coercive retreat”.

On the other hand, the group that was a week ago camped in Praça D. João I, in Porto, in protest for the lack of housing, decided this morning to dismantle the camp in the face of the threat of a police intervention.

Protesters decide to keep the protest in Lisbon

About a hundred protesters decided today in a popular assembly to maintain the protest for the housing now taking place in Praça da Figueira and next to Rossio, in Lisbon.
