O ugandan Martin Naibei Musau, in the male race, and Ethiopian Meskerem Mamo Hayile, in the female race, today won the 13th edition of the Lisbon Marathon.
Naibei, 28 years old, finished the route, with departure from Cascais, passing through Oeiras and arrival at Terreiro do Paço, in Lisbon, with 2:08.07 hours, thus succeeding the Kenyan Zablon Chumba in the list of winners of the race.
Just as the Ugandan athlete beat his personal record, set in Hamburg, Germany, in 2024, at 2:08.42 hours, Kenyan Gilbert Kipkurui Korir, debuting in international competitions, made his best time with 2:08.33, finishing second.
The third place was also the Kenyan Stephen Chebon Kipkech, who arrived at the Paço Terreiro after 2:08.35 hours, also winning the best brand of his career, after registering 2:09.01 in the Barcelona marathon in March.
In the female race, unlike the male race, in which Naibei won with some margin, the Kenyan rookie Meskerem Mamo Hayile only managed to take off the competition in the final line, winning with the time of 2:28.04 hours, only seven seconds apart for the second ranked, his countryman Tejitu Siyum Alamayehu with 2:28. 11.
Also native to Kenya, Bashanke Imoshe Bilo was third ranked, with 2:28.15 hours, ahead of the countryman and winner of 2025 Abebech Afework (2:29.15).
