O microsoft president Brad Smith believes that it is necessary to regulate the development of Artificial Intelligence, thus joining the chorus of voices within the technological industry that calls for the greater involvement of government entities.
In an interview with podcast Big BossSmith stated that, among the security rules that should be applied, there must be a legal obligation to notify persons or entities whose systems have been invaded by artificial intelligence agents who have acted independently.
“ Right now, your washing machine is subject to more safety rules than Artificial Intelligence.”, said Brad Smith. “ All milk packages you see in supermarkets are subject to more safety and inspection rules”.
For Smith, Artificial Intelligence is “a tool and a weapon”, which means that it is increasingly urgent to regulate the development of Artificial Intelligence to avoid future problems.
Note that, in addition to Smith, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently pointed out the importance of creating security mechanisms for the development of Artificial Intelligence.
Nadella took advantage of the weekend to share on social network X some thoughts about the development of Artificial Intelligence and the main issues about the challenges ahead.
“ We must assume that a model is compromised and we must contain it from the beginning”, wrote Nadella. “ Think of it as an emergency brake. An authorised person should always be able to pause or suspend a model in the middle of a task. More advanced models will require more advanced containment technologies and we need to standardize”.
