A Microsoft will soon have a new wave of redundancies, with Business Insider claiming that the number should impact up to 2.5% of the company's total number of employees.
A publication states that the objective of these redundancies is to control costs in order to strengthen investment in the development of Artificial Intelligence, with people close to the company to advance that the most impacted divisions should be sales and consulting.
Xbox and the studios themselves should also be among the main divisions impacted by this redundancy round. Rumor has it that Double Fine (“Psychonauts”), Arkane (“Deathloop”), Compulsion (“South of Midnight”), Ninja Theory (“Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II”) and other producers are allegedly at risk of closing doors.
Business Insider sources indicate that some of the workers dismissed must receive proposals to take up new positions but, since it is not yet known when the decision will be officially communicated, we will have to wait for further details.
Microsoft is believed to start reporting these redundancies by the end of next week.
Remember that, in previous years, Microsoft announced redundancies between spring and summer. In May 2025 the decision to dismiss was communicated 6000 people, while in july there were more 9,000 workers leaving their respective positions.
