One of the four injured in the frontal collision between two cars that took place today on the National Road 246 (EN246), in the municipality of Portalegre, ended up dying on site, indicated to the agency Lusa source of Civil Protection.

ANDm statements to Lusa, around 8 p.m., the source of the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Alto Alentejo revealed that the mortal victim is a man, 50 years old, who will still be transported to the legal medicine services of the hospital of Portalegre.
The same source corrected the data on the four victims initially provided to Lusa: instead of two women and two men, the three injured and the person who died are all male.
One of the 45-year-old men suffered serious injuries and was transported by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) to the hospital of Évora, he said.
The other two, aged 20 and 23, he added, are injured lightly and were taken in ambulance hospital parão de Portalegre.
The frontal road collision, which took place “about two kilometres after Santiago”, in the parish of Urra, in the municipality of Portalegre, involved two light passenger vehicles.
The sinister, whose warning was given to the authorities at 17:59, led to a two-way traffic cut in that section of EN246.
Asked by Lusa, the front of the sub-regional command explained that, around 8:00 p.m., road traffic remained interrupted.
“The NICAAV (Núcleo de Investigação de Crimes em Acidências de Viação) of GNR is still investigating it, and then the road will be cleaned, so that the road can reopen to traffic,” he said.
For this accident, 21 operations supported by seven vehicles and a helicopter were mobilized, including firemen, GNR and INEM.
