A president of Anthropic, Daniela Amodei, considers that using artificial intelligence as a romantic partner is a misuse of technology and that it can aggravate the distance between humans.
Account business Insider site daniela Amodei – who is also the sister of co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei – gave an interview to Arianna Huffington, noting that having an Artificial Intelligence as a romantic partner could worsen the damage caused by social networks to human relations.
“ I think [using as a romantic partner] is a terrible use of Artificial Intelligence and that people should not do it”, said Daniela Amodei, noting that it is “one more step in the way of the disintermediation of humans moving away from each other”.
The president of Anthropic also left a few words of caution for those who use Claude's assistant as a psychologist or therapist, indicating that Artificial Intelligence cannot replace inherently human functions. “ Claude can never be your manager, your therapist or partner”, stating that these are positions “that will become more important”.
Despite these statements by Daniela Amodei, Anthropic has been making decisions aimed at driving Claude's users to anthropomorphize the assistant of Artificial Intelligence.
Anthropic forbids users to be cruel to Claude
Anthropic updated the policy of using its Artificial Intelligence tools, with one of the new features focusing on how users deal with the company's models.
As can be read in news of this updateAnthropic wants to banish “abuse or cruel, continuous and unnecessary behaviour” to the models of artificial intelligence that are at the base of Claude and Claude Code.
The company led by Dario Amodei notes that this measure is “applied only in extreme cases” and with users who “repeated action with cruelty” in interactions with Anthropic Artificial Intelligence models “without discernible purpose”. Anthropic clarifies that this prohibition will not apply to “common cases of frustration, resistance, dark creative themes or model testing and research”.
This update to the policy of using Anthropic’s Artificial Intelligence models will enter into force on November 12th and, according to the company, is an extension of a measure that had already been applied to allow Claude to stop responding to abusive users.
“ This type of abuse is the main focus of this update: Claude’s ability to end these interactions will remain the main mechanism of applying the rule.”You can read it on the Anthropic website.
