O Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today complained about Kyiv’s partners that “again” did not warn about the attacks with Russian ballistic missiles last night.
“ A new attack with Russian ballistic missiles took place in several waves during the night and, once again, there was no prior warning from our partners,” lamented the Ukrainian leader on social network X.
Moscow targeted Kyiv and his region with 16 ballistic missiles, as well as hitting other parts of the country with over 200 drones between Sunday night and this morning, Zelensky said.
Authorities reported one dead and eight injured in Kyiv, plus two dead in Kryvyi Rih, in the center of the country.
“ They [the Russians] returned to attack the infrastructure and energy facilities, however, a medical clinic, a school, a metro station and common residential buildings were also hit,” Zelensky said.
Ukraine depends on data from Western military intelligence services — especially the United States — to detect Russian attacks and issue alerts sufficiently in advance for the population to seek shelter.
Last week, Kyiv had already stated that she was not warned by the United States about the imminence of Russian attacks.
However, the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said today that there was “no interruption” in sharing information with Kyiv, while urging Volodymyr Zelensky to focus on how to “close the war.”.
On Sunday, American President Donald Trump accused his Ukrainian counterpart of “not wanting to end” the war against Russia in a scenario of renewed tension between Washington and Kyiv.
The Ukrainian President responded today to the US Head of State, stating that Ukraine “has literally welcomed ALL our partners’ attempts to end this war with a dignified outcome.”.
“ When the supply of missiles for Ukraine’s air defense is blocked, while Russia benefits from reliefs or postponements of sanctions, it is unfortunately a denial of reality by our partners,” he said.
Donald Trump's presidential decree exempted Russia on Friday from new US sanctions.
In addition, last week the United States announced an agreement between Washington and Moscow allowing the US to import Russian gas oil, thus suspending the sanctions aimed at Russia.
