Rio Ferdinand published, this Wednesday, a video on YouTube channel itself, entitled ‘Ferdinand Presents River‘, in which he said he had no major doubts that Lisandro Martínez has the ‘days counted’ in Manchester United, the result of the ‘explosive’ attack against the club’s own leadership, after the defeat suffered on the second day of the League of Champions league league league, before the Madrid Atlético, by 2-0.
“ These things don't end well. Roy Keane spoke publicly. It was impossible to come from a greater or more influential player than he, who was captain at the time, and left, days later. Cristiano Ronaldo pointed the finger at certain people, within the club, the coach and the owners, and left, shortly after ", began to affirm.
“Ralf Rangnick seemed to be there for a couple of years as interim coach, but came to the public to say that there were things that had to be done... (...). Ralf Rangnick used the famous expression of ‘open heart surgeon’, which I do not think was far from the truth, by the way”, he continued.
“Cristiano, when he was still playing there, pointed his finger at the owners for the lack of infrastructure reconstruction, and the coach, [Erik] ten Hag. Both these guys left the club, not long after these shots. Honestly, I cannot see how this will be different”, he completed.
For the former English international, at the moment, the main “question” is to understand how the Argentinean’s dissatisfaction was managed: “There will be Lisandro Martínez in the summer, seeing what was going on, on arrival at the club, and said ‘Do you know what else? This is a me***, it's garbage. What's going on? I was expecting more, this is Manchester United. I stayed here, won the World Cup and want to win the Premier League and the Champions League.”.
“ Did he knock on the door of Jason Wilcox and Omar [Bright] before he got to this point of going to the media after a game, all emotional, and talked like that? Because if you feel that way, I think it is in the right to knock on their door and have this conversation in private, before talking to the media ", concluded.
What did Lisandro Martínez say?
Lisandro Martínez’s ‘rajada’ took place in the quick interviews area of the Amazon Prime streaming platform, where he shot: “I have to control myself a lot, but sometimes this is a reflection of the state in which our club is now. We had a fantastic time last year, and now we expected more from the top, from above, to bring more players.”.
“ I expect more from our technical director [Jason Wilcox], I have to be honest. And also, as players, we have to do more. It is also important to build a strong squad to be prepared for nights like this,” he added, before leaving in defense of Red Devils coach Michael Carrick.
“ He does his best, but every season is different. You can't just stand by what you did earlier. Teams know how you play, they know all the details... If you do not change, the next season will be a big problem (...). You start changing coaches, changing, changing, but what about the other areas?”, he said.
