Ruben Amorim is back in England, of this time, as a coach of AC Milan, emblem that will guide the meeting of the third day of the league phase of the Europa League, before Bournemouth, which has initial whistle scheduled for 8 pm (time of Continental Portugal) on Thursday, at Dean Court.
At the traditional press conference forecasting the visit to the Cherries, as would be expected, the Portuguese coach was challenged to comment on the problems that plagued Michael Carrick, his successor in the technical command of Manchester United, but ended up responding with... ‘love oaths’ to the club.
“ The most important thing is that I'm here as an AC Milan coach, and I need to respect that. The only thing I can say... I have nothing to say about Manchester United, I'm just focused on our club, AC Milan. What I can say is that what I said, when I signed for Manchester United, is that I love that club, and the feeling, with everyone there, with everything that happened, does not change that,” he said.
“It’s the only thing I want to say. I moved on, and I'm in another big club. This type of club, like my club, AC Milan, has many unsolved problems, so I am focused on my life and our life, because, as you know, in all the big clubs, the problem is around the corner”, he continued, before journalists.
“ So I'm very focused on my work, my team, my players and my technical team, not the life of another club. However, as I said, it does not matter what happened to Manchester United in the past. What I said, when I signed for that club, it stays the same. I really love that club”, completed.
The route of Ruben Amorim in Manchester United
Ruben Amorim, remember, was announced as coach of Manchester United in October 2024, following the resignation of his predecessor, the Dutch Erik ten Hag, the result of a business that allowed Sporting (the club that was then guiding) to make a financial fit in the order of ten million euros.
In a particularly ‘turbulent’ first sports season, he led the red devils to the 15th position of the Premier League and, at the same time, to the final of the Europa League, where he ended up defeated from the fight with Tottenham, by 1-0, on account of a ‘solitary’ goal by Brennan Johnson, in San Mamés.
The next season, from 2025/26, did not go as he intended at all, so he was fired in January this year, less than 24 hours after a tie to a ball with Leeds United on Elland Road, and the ‘bombastic’ press conference that followed, in which he pointed his finger at his own direction.
There followed a stop of approximately half a year, after which he returned to the asset, succeeding Massimiliano Allegri at the helm of AC Milan. To date, it adds five wins, three draws and a defeat at the end of the nine official meetings it has held in all competitions.
