“Nuno Tavares is a player for Real Madrid and could have played there 10 years”

The former player of AC Milan then gave some of the factors he considers important to be at the level of this type of clubs, and who considers that the Portuguese international has within his game.

“ He's got everything, he's got speed, right foot, left foot... It's unusual, but after a game you need your time to recover. He's a good boy. You gotta get in his head and make him understand. You know you have talent and you could have been 10 or 12 in Real Madrid with your qualities. You just have to make him understand”, he continued.

Gennaro Gattuso went further and even claimed that Nuno Tavares is in the top-2 left-hand side of the world, with only another player to be on his level. Interestingly, this name is also Portuguese, with Nuno Mendes, a Paris Saint-Germain player, to be mentioned.

The Italian technician also realized that at first there was a lot of tension between you and Nuno Tavares, because the talent was there, but the desire to work and improve was scarce. However, it seems that this no longer happens today.

“Only Nuno Mendes, from PSG, between the left sides, is at his level. The Nuno [Tavares] has everything, but at first there was tension between us. I do not want someone with talent who does nothing to improve, because I was the opposite, it was worse than the others ", completed.

To remember that Nuno Tavares did his football training between two rival teams, having started at Sporting and finished at Benfica, with Casa Pia in the middle. He debuted as senior in the incarnates, from which he left, in 2021/22, to head to the Arsenal, in the Premier League, for a sum of around eight million euros.

Later, and a few loans later, he ended up arriving at Lazio, where he spent a year giving in for a season, where he made nine assists in 30 matches, making Gattuso want to stay with the 26-year-old player, for a total of five million euros, having already two assists in five matches at this time.
