OE. PSD and CDS-PP defend option of “increasing Portuguese income”

O PSD and the CDS-PP today praised the “solid and fair accounts” of the government’s budget proposal for 2027 and defended AD’s option to increase Portuguese income through the various IRS downturns.

In statements to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic, PSD parliamentary leader Hugo Soares pointed out a fundamental difference between the options of the AD executive and that of the main opposition parties.

“The PS and the Enough feel that all government budget slack should be directed to reduce fuel prices. This could lead to this happening every week and bring the country joyfully, as already happened, to bankruptcy ", he considered.

The Social-Democratic leader even wondered whether it would be fair for those who do not have or cannot have a car to know that the State was “channeling all its resources to lower the price of fuel”.

“ I don't think that's fair. We need to tell the Portuguese very clearly that our policies are precisely to give people income so that they can make their own choices,” he said.

Hugo Soares took the opportunity to respond to the criticisms of the former Minister of Finance of PS Mário Centeno to the accounts of the AD executive, accusing him of, when he was governor of Banco de Portugal, having failed many of his predictions regarding the current government.

“ I believe Professor Centeno has shown that he really needs to change books because the lessons he has given are completely wrong,” he said.

Also the parliamentary leader of the CDS-PP, Paulo Nuncio, praised the document presented today by the Minister of Finance.

“ This is a budget that is right and it is the budget that the country needs for this moment,” he said, warning that “the last thing the country would need was a political crisis” caused by a possible lead document, which should be made possible by the announced abstention of the PS.
