Oit is active police and a former agent were arrested today in Serbia for alleged assault on students during the demonstrations last year, and after the victory of the leaders of the student movement in the last elections.

The figures of the student movement, who defeated in the polls the nationalist party of the current leader Aleksandar Vučić, call for rapid changes in police and information services.

In this context, eight police and one civilian were arrested today on suspicion of “aggression and torture,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

“For information,” the suspects “appeared to force and threats” on several people who were injured.

The facts date back to August 2025, in the garage of a Serbian government building in Belgrade.

The complete identity of the nine people arrested has not been disclosed until now, only their initials and year of birth.

The commander of the Serbian anti-terrorist special unit, Igor Zmiric, will be among those involved, according to RTS public television.

The student and militant Nikolina Sindjelic was one of the people arrested during the anti-government demonstrations in August 2025 in Belgrade and accused Igor Zmiric of kicking her while she was on the floor of the garage in question.

Nikolina Sindjelic also accused her superior of threatening to rape her. This superior, Marko Kricak, who was in charge of the criminal police, was arrested Sunday in another case.
