Show's your health? There are tests you should do throughout your life and give priority at certain times. A doctor revealed what tests women should take at 20, 30, 40 and 50.

Kiarra King is a gynecologist and the Health website has revealed what exams you should be concerned about at different stages of your life.

Women: The tests you should take

“ An important part of preventive care is routine health examinations, which can detect certain diseases before they cause symptoms and when they are usually easier to treat,” the expert said.

At 20

Blood pressure: “If your blood pressure is normal and you have no risk factors for heart disease, the recommendation is to check it every three to five years.”

Cervix cancer: “You can detect abnormal cells in the cervix before they turn into cancer.”

Cholesteroll: “Most women should take a cholesterol test to check their initial level at age 20.”

Hepatitis C: “A single screening test is recommended for all adults, regardless of their symptoms or risk factors.”

Mental health: “The screening of depression and anxiety is part of preventive care and is recommended for all adults.”

Diabetes: “ Your doctor may check your blood sugar level from age 20 if you are overweight or have obesity associated with another risk factor, such as high blood pressure or family history of diabetes.”

Breast health: “ If you have an average risk of breast cancer, you still don't have to do routine mammograms. Instead, familiarize yourself with normal appearance and texture and tell your doctor if you notice anything else.”

Skin cancer: “ Some dermatologists recommend examining the skin regularly from the age of 18.”

At the age of 30

At this age, it suggests that you should keep some of the tests, such as blood pressure, cholesterol, mental health, diabetes or skin cancer. Then it also suggests having more attention to cervical cancer and diabetes.

At 40

At this age, blood pressure should continue to be part of your regular tests, such as cholesterol, diabetes, skin cancer or mental health. It should also add screening to breast cancer and colorectal cancer. “From age 45 onwards, colorectal cancer screening is recommended for adults at medium risk — i.e. no personal or family history of colorectal cancer or related diseases.”

At 50

Some of the tests mentioned above should remain in this age group. Here must still join tests to lose the lung cancer and also to understand what your condition is bone density.

“If you have been through menopause and have risk factors for osteoporosis, such as smoking or family history of fractures, ask your doctor if you should have a bone density test before the age of 65,” Kiarra King recommends.

Measles. Alert in the country? “Surveillance signal, not uncontrolled outbreak”

In a recent update, the Directorate-General for Health revealed that nine measles cases have been registered in Portugal since the beginning of the year. Is that a warning? In an interview with Lifestyle to Minute, virologist Pedro Simas reveals that it is a “sign of surveillance, not of an uncontrolled outbreak”.
