Jesús Owono will be seriously considering the possibility of putting a stop to the career of professional footballer at 25 years of age, following the violent shock that took place last Monday in the final moments of the meeting of the second stage of Spanish football, between Tenerife and FC Andorra, which left Jesús de Miguel in cardiorespiratory arrest and which later led to his death.
The revelation was made, this Friday, by Ana Maye, one of the most trusted people of the goalkeeper, who has taken over, over 14 years, the position of general coordinator of the Equatorial Guinea Football Federation, and who has been keeping in constant contact with him since the episode that put him under all eyes of world football.
“ No matter how much you say it, it's costing you a lot. He is particularly affected by the one - and - a - half - year - old son of Jesus Michael and his widow. He doesn’t know how to manage all this”, started by affirming her own, in an extensive interview granted to the Friday edition of the Spanish newspaper Sports World.
“ Jesus' brother, they're calling him a murderer. They target us on their team, and even some parents insult him. It's very complicated. His sister, who goes to the University of Valencia, is also suffering. They do not deserve (...). He believes in the Bible a lot. I wish you could understand that you don't have to carry that guilt... No one enters the field thinking they will kill another player ", continued.
“Jesús Owono’s family does not deserve to be destroyed”
In recent days, Jesús Owono's mother left the Netherlands, where she resides, to join her son in Andorra. However, Ana Maye stressed, the way the media in the neighbouring country has been dealing with this media case has not helped the family welfare at all.
“ They are also experiencing a duel, even if otherwise. The deceased's family has lost a loved one, and that weighs them immensely. They will have to live with what happened throughout their lives, but it also changed the life of Jesús' family, forever, and they do not deserve to be torn apart like this”, he shot.
“ The mother taught him that the important thing is humanity, which is what moves mountains (...). Respect your privacy. He has two other young children and a husband at home. They're hurting, too. Jesus needs time, help and tranquility to be able to assimilate what happened”, he concluded.
“ These are the hardest days of my life”
Jesús Owono himself broke the silence on Thursday about this tragedy: “These are the hardest days of my life. I find it hard to find the words and it's very difficult for me to assimilate everything that happened. I feel a great pain for the loss of Jesus. I think of him, his family and all the people who liked him”.
“ I know there will be many issues to be addressed, and I will face whatever comes with all due respect. But right now, honestly, I can't think of anything but Jesus and the pain we're living. Rest in peace, Jesús”, completed, through a communiqué shared by FC Andorra itself, through official platforms.
