U40-year-old man and his 10-year-old son fell off a terrace at different times during the reception of a wedding in the Italian province of Foggia. The child, who is not at risk of life, was the first to fall and, trying to rescue her, the man ended up rushing from the same place, becoming in a serious state.
The boy will have fallen from a height of four to five meters, while playing with other children of the same age, in the back of the hotel unit where the party took place, according to the agency Ansa.
When he realized his son had fallen, the man tried to help him. However, part of the roof collapsed, causing it to fall, according to Sky TG24.
Father and son were transported to Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo. The minor suffered a fracture in the lower limb and is in no danger of life, while the man was in a severe condition, with a reserved prognosis.
After the incident, which took place at 3 p.m. (local time) the reception was interrupted and then cancelled. The Carabinieri isolated the area and initiated investigations to reconstruct the circumstances, determine the cause of the collapse and determine any responsibilities.
