A Petrobras, through the wholly owned subsidiary Petrobras Netherlands B.V., will have 90% participation in the eight blocks and will be the operator, while the state-owned Costa-Marfinense will have the remaining 10%.

Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) were signed today at a ceremony held in Abidjan, the economic capital and headquarters of the Ivory Coast Government, which was attended by Petrobras' Executive Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia Anjos.

“ With this acquisition, Petrobras assumes a relevant presence in Côte d’Ivoire, a country located in a region of high exploratory potential, with geological characteristics similar to those of our sedimentary basins”, said Petrobras president Magda Chambriard, quoted in the statement.

“ We will apply our experience and technical capacity in these blocks and we are confident that we will be able to discover with them all the possibilities we believe exist on the African Atlantic margin,” he added.

According to the Brazilian state, the operation is aligned with the strategy of recomposing oil and gas reserves through the exploitation of new borders, both in Brazil and abroad, provided for in its business plan.
