O president of the Lisbon House today considered that the intervention of the police during this morning in the camp in Rossio was held “proportionally”, stating that the cause of housing “is very fair”, but without acts of vandalism.
“ When I see the vandalism that was done, for example, in the statue of Dom Pedro IV in Rossio, it is a vandalism of a cultural heritage that is 150 years old and therefore this is not to manifest, this is vandalism and this cannot happen in the city ", said Carlos Coins (PSD), in statements to journalists at the entrance to the meeting of the Lisbon Municipal Assembly for the debate on the state of the city, which takes place annually.
Faced with this situation in the camp in Rossio, the mayor of the PSD considered that “the police acted with correction, proportionally, did what they had to do”, referring to the police intervention at dawn today, with the withdrawal of 228 tents, and that culminated with the arrest of 55 people.
