A portuguese skate hockey team debuted on Monday at the Men's World Cup with a 10-0 win over Switzerland, in a meeting of Group A's first day at COP Arena in Paraguay.
Miguel Rocha, with three goals, at 27, 28 and 31 minutes, stood out in the team of Reinaldo Ventura, who also scored by José Miranda (2), Carlos Ramos (15 and 35), Rafael Bessa (22), João Rodrigues (37 and 48) and Hélder Nunes (47).
Portugal took control of the meeting early and opened the marker at two minutes, in an individual initiative by José Miranda, who surpassed the Swiss opposition and the goalkeeper Guillaume Oberson.
The Portuguese formation maintained the offensive pressure, but only expanded at 15 minutes, in a front shot by Carlos Ramos. Rafael Bessa made the third at 22, taking advantage of a Miguel Rocha pass to finish with a closed angle.
João Rodrigues still hit the bar on the last pitch of the first part, which ended with a Portuguese advantage of three goals, facing a Switzerland with difficulties to counteract the circulation of ball and the opposing moves.
At the beginning, Xano Edo surrendered Pedro Henriques in the goal and responded to an opportunity of Gian Rettenmund, before Miguel Rocha signed three goals between the 27 and 31 minutes.
The advance made the 4-0 in charging to a major penalty that Oberson had defended at 27 minutes and again scored at 28, in a stung ball, and at 31, again in a pitch of insistence.
With the result dilated, Portugal continued to explore the defensive failures of the Helvetics. Carlos Ramos bisou at 35 minutes, after recovery and assistance of João Rodrigues, who signed the eighth at 37, with a finalization by air.
In the final line, Hélder Nunes scored at 47 minutes, in an incursion through the central zone, and João Rodrigues fixed the result at 48, also completing a ‘bis’.
Portugal leads the Group A with three points, the same as Spain, which won Italy by 3-2, while Italians and Swiss follow without points. The Portuguese team today faces the Spaniards, at 21:45 ( Lisbon time), on the second day.
