Portugal loses with Spain and falls to second in World Cup

The Portuguese team of beach football lost today with Spain, by 5-4, on the second day of the World Cup, which takes place in El Puerto de Santa María, in the Spanish province of Cadiz, falling to second place in the group.

A portuguese selection of beach football lost today with Spain, by 5-4, on the second day of the World Cup, which takes place in El Puerto de Santa María, in the Spanish province of Cadiz, falling to second place in the group.

 

After winning Brazil by 7-5 at the premiere, on Friday, Portugal arrived at the break tied 1-1, with goals of Chiky Ardil, at two minutes, for the Spaniards, and Léo Martins, at eight, for the team of 'quinas'.

In the second period, the Spanish goalkeeper Pablo López Molina again put the house team in advantage, just in the first minute, before a self-wind of Fábio widens the difference to 3-1.

Tim reduced to 3-2, but Pablo López Molina scored twice more, raising the Spanish advantage to 5-2.

At 23 minutes, near the end, Bright Reuben set the result at 5-3.

In the third and final period, Tim scored again at 29 minutes, setting the final result at 5-4.

The Portuguese team, guided by Bruno Torres, who seeks to win the eighth title in the World Cup, fell to second place, with three points, for exchange with Spain, which came to add five.

At the other meeting of the day, Brazil won Paraguay, by 5-4, and occupies the third position, also with three points, while the Paraguayans follow in fourth and last, without points.

The 26th edition of the World Cup runs until Sunday, in a one-round championship format, with four selections.

Portugal closes its participation on Sunday, in front of Paraguay, at 15:30 locals (14:30 in Lisbon).
