Sfollowing the INE, this evolution was determined mainly by the groupings “energy” and “intermediate goods”, which contributed, respectively, with 2.6 and 2.3 percentage points for the total variation of the index (2.1 and 2.2 percentage points in the previous month), associated with annual variation rates of 15.8% and 6.5% (12.7% and 6.3% in June).
“ In the ‘energy’ grouping, the increase continued to reflect, in particular, the rise in the prices of petroleum products, although in the last month the price of electricity presented a significant acceleration of the rate from June”, details.
In July, “consumption goods” and “investment goods” groups also made positive contributions of 0.6 and 0.3 percentage points, respectively (0.5 and 0.3 percentage points in the previous month), corresponding to homologous growths of 1.8% and 2.3% (1.4% and 2.2% in June).
The monthly variation of IPPI was set at 0.8% (0.1% in July 2025), with this increase essentially resulting from the “energy” grouping, which contributed with 0.8 percentage points for the variation of the aggregate index, following a growth of 4.4% (1.6% in July 2025).
“ This development was largely determined by the increase in the electricity production price,” explains the INE, adding that the other groups presented “waste contributions for the variation of the total index,” he said.
