The group, which includes several members of the local PS, including the councilor in the opposition Paulo Dias and the president of the Junta de Freguesia do Lorvão, will meet on Friday in Coimbra, with the IP to ask for clarifications and demand answers regarding the closure of ER110.
“There are a huge set of problematic situations and we do not see light at the bottom of the tunnel to resolve the situation,” Lusa Paulo Dias told the agency.
According to the councilman elected by the PS, there were “several promises” made by the IP, but the cut continues, affecting daily people who live in the area and who used ER110 to move to Coimbra.
“ People now have to travel through the saw or using IP3, more than doubling, in many situations, the journey. At a time when transport costs are so high, a good share of the salary stays in the fuel they have to spend”, he noted.
In addition, the councilor considered that there are impacts on companies that make descents of the river Mondego and that used that road, also affects the response in situations of relief and hinders the ability to work and accessibility of firefighters in case of fire, in an area with a dense forest spot.
“The road is completely abandoned. In addition to the delay [of IP], lacks information and timing so that the problem is solved definitively, at a time when we will enter the period of rains and we fear that other problems may arise ", warned.
The councilman in the opposition also recalled that the PS presented a proposal in the Municipal Assembly, on June 25, for the executive to proceed with a lawsuit against IP, in order to “claim compensation for the damage caused to people”.
The proposal, approved unanimously, mandated the municipal executive, led by the PSD, to advance the action within 90 days.
In August, the mayor of Penacova criticized the lack of IP solutions for the two roads cut in the county since the passage of storm Kristin, ER110 and national 2 (EN2).
In an intermunicipal council, Álvaro Coimbra (PSD) proposed a position of the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region, demanding answers and solutions from IP, which was approved at that meeting.
At the time, the mayor regretted that there would already be a requalification project for ER110, but that the works did not advance and that IP had refused to define an emergency channel to be used in the context of firefighting.
