O PS today called for the urgent parliamentary hearing of 16 entities representing the economic and social sectors affected by the increase in energy costs to diagnose the different realities and impacts and identify possible measures.
In the request sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Energy, and to which the agency Lusa had access, the PS Members state that the increase in energy prices “continues to have significant impacts on companies, workers and entities in the social and associative sectors”.
“ These impacts are not distributed homogeneously between the different sectors of the economy and society”, explains the PS in the request that 16 entities be heard, with urgency.
According to the Socialists, the diversity of realities “requires a differentiated assessment of the impacts of the energy crisis and the adequacy of mitigation measures”, and Parliament’s obligation “to provide direct, up-to-date and as complete as possible information on the concrete effects that are being felt by the different economic and social sectors”.
“ The hearing of the representative entities will make it possible to know, as a voice, the evolution of the energy costs borne by each sector, the respective weight in the cost structure, the impacts on activity, competitiveness, investment, employment and the provision of services, as well as to assess the adequacy of the measures currently in force and identify any additional responses to the short and medium term”, justifies the party led by José Luís Carneiro.
The list of entities that the PS wants to hear in parliament is part of the Business Confederation of Portugal (CIP), the Portuguese Association of Industrial Great Consumers of Electric Energy (APIGEEC), the Portuguese Association of Ceramic and Crystalry Industries (APICER) and the Association of Packaging Glass Industry (AIVE).
The National Association of Road Freight Carriers of Goods (ANTRAM), the National Association of Road Transporters of Passenger Heavyweights (ANTROP), the National Association of Road Transporters in Light Cars (ANTRAL), the Portuguese Taxi Federation and the Portuguese Association of Transporters in Uncharacterized Cars (APTAD) also integrate this requirement.
The Socialist Members also want in Parliament the Confederation of Farmers of Portugal (CAP), the National Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives and the Agricultural Credit of Portugal (CONFAGRI) and the Association of Industrial Fisheries Shipowners (ADAPI).
The Association of Hotels, Restoration and Similarities of Portugal (AHRESP), the Confederation of Trade and Services of Portugal (CCP), the National Confederation of Solidarity Institutions (CNIS) and the Portuguese Confederation of Culture, Recreio and Sport (CPCCRD) conclude this list of 16 entities.
