Dthese elements of the Saudi National Guard died today in the fall of a helicopter in Najran, in the southwest of the country, with the Huthis rebels claiming the slaughter of the device and the government indicating “a technical failure”.
“A National Guard reconnaissance helicopter AH-6i crashed into Saudi territory in the Najran region due to a technical malfunction. The accident resulted in the martyrdom of his crew, composed of two officers,” said the spokesman for the Saudi-led anti-Huthi military coalition, Turki al Maliki, in its official X account.
On the other hand, the Huthis military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea, stated in his account on the same network that his units shot down an “A Apache helicopter belonging to the Saudi enemy in front of Najran, while he carried out hostile actions against the positions of the forces” of the insurgents.
This is yet another incident at a time when the Huthis, in their continuing war against Saudi Arabia, demonstrate the ability to wreak havoc on one of the best equipped military forces in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government launched a military campaign last month to repel the Bab el-Mandeb Strait Huthis, a crucial trade route in the Middle East for oil and other goods transport.
