Cerca de 955 thousand Stellantis vehicles they are the target for repair in several countries, due to a problem that may impair the operation of the rear view camera.
According to Reuters, 848 thousand cars are in the United States of America – being models of the brands Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and ProMaster. Then, there are about 107,000 cars in other markets, including Canada and Mexico in North and Central America.
O Minute Auto sent a request for clarification to Stellantis' communication department in Portugal, to see if there are automobiles affected in our country. We are currently awaiting response.
The problem is related to radio software, which can prevent the rear view camera from working as it would be supposed to. It is resolved with a remote update (over-the-air) through a “prompt” on the multimedia screen when available.
There are no reports of incidents or injuries because of this defect. The recommendation goes through looking back and using the rear-view mirrors if the camera fails. Otherwise, you should never rely solely on the cameras and sensors of an automobile, even if there are no known problems.
It should be remembered that in Portugal it is mandatory to comply with the calls to repair the marks, under penalty of lead in the periodic mandatory inspection. You may know if your car is the target of a pickup at the call platform the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) in partnership with the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT). To do so, simply provide the identification number (VIN) or vehicle registration.
