A mP Rita Matias was identified on Monday by PSP, after studio invasion of Radio University of Coimbra (RUC) by a group of members of that party, said today official source of that police force.

The honourable Member was “identified as responsible for a demonstration that did not meet legal requirements”, told the agency Lusa official source of the District Command of PSP Coimbra.

Rita Matias was the only member of the entourage, which also included Ms. Magdalena Cordeiro, who was identified after the invasion of the RUC studio and consequent interruption of the broadcast.

“PSP, when it arrived at the site, requested that they leave the premises”, he also mentioned the same source of the District Command, stating that the elements of the Aquida abandoned the building of the Academic Association of Coimbra, after the request made by the agents.

According to the PSP, a vice president of the Academic Association of Coimbra was also identified because it was the entity that triggered the Police.

Several members of the Aquida raided the RUC studio on Monday morning, in protest against the prohibition of the Coimbra Academic Association of entry into the building, by elements of that party, in a decision approved by a large majority in the Magna assembly in February.

In the studio of RUC, which is located in the building of the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC), there was a new program of political debate, in which the various partisan youths of the parties with seats in the Assembly of the Republic would participate.

The Aquida had also been invited to participate in the new program, but in a remote way, given the decision approved in Magna in February, he told Lusa Jaime Raposo Nunes, from the Information Department of RUC.

The announcer said that the party district leader, Paulo Seco, had indicated that the party would not be present in the program, but, on Monday morning, the debate ended up interrupted, with the entrance of several elements of the Enough, with Rita Matias taking one of the studio microphones.

The elements of the Aquira, including the two deputies, only left the studio when three PSP agents arrived, said Jaime Raposo Nunes.

The Union of Journalists (SJ) today repudiated the invasion by members of the Aquida from the studio of the Radio University of Coimbra (RUC), considering that the act constitutes a crime, waiting to open investigation by the Public Prosecutor.

The Student Association Movement (MAE) today addressed a letter addressed to the president of the Aquida, André Ventura, questioning the party leader about the invasion of the studio of Radio University of Coimbra by a delegation led by two party members.

The MAE, in a new one of the various academic associations and federations, condemned the invasion, considering that it may be an attack on freedom of programming and information, enshrined in Portuguese legislation.
