Dafter the death of a great colleague if friends, Rui Veloso will take a break. The 69-year-old musician announced that he will “get off the stage for a while, to do things that he left behind”.
“In Porto, it was difficult, but it was epic. Great audience that caressed us and sang with us! On stage I announced that I'm going to withdraw from the stage for a while, to do things I've been leaving behind, my list of Things to Do! Music things but not only”, he explained in a publication he made on his Instagram page this Monday, October 12.
“Stoping does well to retemperate, think about the future, re-establish friendships, read, write, etc. It is also a necessity. The Lisbon concert on Saturday in Campo Pequeno and the day 31 in Figueira da Foz will be the last of the next few times ", he also reported, having already set the date to take this break, but promising that it is not the end of his career.
“It will not be definitive, but... there are still tickets to Campo Pequeno, enjoy! I hold you all who have been around for so many years! Thank you”, shot.
This career break is announced after Rui Veloso has said goodbye to great colleagues and friends in recent months.
After the death of Luís Represas in July, Rui Veloso also saw Jorge Palma leave on 21 September.
Rui Veloso's tributes to the deaths of Luís Represas and Jorge Palma
When Luís Represas died on July 22, at the age of 69, Rui Veloso was one of the voices that demonstrated on social networks. “You were just... discreet, no fuss, my old friend. Bigger Sadness! When a friend leaves, there's also a piece of us. This photo was last year at Olga Cadaval. Hug, bro, go in peace.”
And after the funeral, which took place on July 24, Rui Veloso went on stage that same day, at night, at the Olga Cadaval Cultural Center, and paid tribute to his colleague and friend.
“My tribute was to sing “The People Don’t Read” and “Má Fortuna”. The room burst with applause for him. He was always there during the 2:20 that the concert lasted. From the first minute to the last minute”, he reported in a post he later made on his Instagram page. “I haven’t lost track yet. Thank you to all who have been and listened to my nonsense (I was in time to talk a lot and screw up a little) ", he vented in the same sharing.
In fact, Rui Veloso is part of the range of artists who will participate in the concerts “Out of Time” to celebrate Luís Represas, in the Coliseums of Lisbon and Porto, in April.
Ana Moura, Camané, Edu Miranda, João Pedro Pais, João Só, Jorge Cruz, Luísa Sobral, Mafalda Veiga, Mariana Nuñez, Marisa Liz, Miguel Nuñez, Ricardo Ribeiro, Stewart Sukuma and the musicians who, with Luís Represas, formed the Trovante, will also take the stage in this tribute to Luís Represas.
Also when Jorge Palma died, Rui Veloso also resorted to his Instagram page to regret the departure of his great friend.
“Our Duesenberg’s twilight... ended conversations at 4 in the morning. The end of the road. I really liked you, and you knew that. I'd like to believe we're meeting somewhere. Who knows? So long, George!! Your friend Roy.”
