O singer Rui Veloso was cleared in a process that had been moved to him by also artist Jorge Vadio, where he demanded compensation of almost a million euros due to an alleged breach of contract by the interpreter of “Porto Covo”.

According to the Correio da Manhã, the judge responsible for the case gave the case as unfounded and unfounded but the defense of Vadio will bring an appeal that will have to be filed by October.

What were the charges of the Rui Veloso v Jorge Vadio case?

According to the publication, Veloso was accused of having “intentionally sabotaged and in bad faith the musical career” by Jorge Vadio, which led the latter to demand the payment of 953.745 euros (for damages of an equity and non-equity nature). In court were heard sounding names of the music world as Manuel Moura dos Santos (on the side of Rui Veloso) and José Cid (to defend Jorge Vadio).

According to BLITZ, Jorge Vadio was contacted by a member of Rui Veloso's team who explained that he would be interested in working with you and that he would promote your musical career, having Vadio signed a contract with Maria Records (which belongs to Rui Veloso).

According to Jorge Vadio this did not happen since together they edited only one album, “Angels of the Night”. Jorge Santos, his real name, claimed that Veloso, besides not having promoted his career, did not pay him “any money for the sale of the album”.

According to this means, Veloso said that there were “divergences” among the publisher’s partners and that the company was inactive.

Later, Jorge Vadio's agent will have unconnected his client from Veloso's publisher, signing a contract with another company. The success of the album “Rumo Oeste” will have led Veloso to approach his colleague again to edit it “personally”.

Jorge Vadio eventually accepted and was promised a tour or the first part of the performer's shows, but this did not happen. It should be noted that no other physical contract, only verbal, was concluded between the two.

This is all that has led to Vadio accusing Veloso of “bad faith”, also referring that he will have “denied his image and professional dignity” with other musicians.

Jorge Vadio is 52 years old and became known in 2005 with the album “Angels of the Night”. The following year he was one of the guests for the celebration of Rui Veloso's 25-year career. In 2025 Jorge Vadio celebrated two decades of career with a concert in Lisbon.
