Sai Froholdt, come in Mazurek? Poland already imagines the future of FC Porto

Polish sports press believes that Bartosz Mazurek can give the Salzburg ‘jump’ to FC Porto, but only in the summer. Benfica, Borussia Dortmund and Brighton are also interested in the young promise.

O FC Porto will be one of several European clubs that have been following with particular attention the evolution of Bartosz Mazurek, a player of only 19 years old who, in the past summer transfer market, arrived in Salzburg from Jagiellonia Bialystok, for a sum of six million euros.

The news has been advanced in recent days by the British sports press, and already this wednesday was the subject of debate on the polish portal Meczyki, where we sought to understand if this will be the best time for the medium to come to ‘jump’ for the Dragon Stadium, given the growth phase it is going through.

“ It can easily go to his head, but I hope the people around him help him keep his feet on the ground. The idea of a potential transfer on the winter market seems absurd to me. He is in a good environment, you can see that he has adapted well, that he feels great and that he is developing perfectly, so why do you ruin it when he goes out in winter?” said journalist Lukasz Wisniowski

“ I think it is a matter for the summer, Pawel Zimonczyk, from the Bartosz Mazurek agency, has an excellent relationship with André Villas-Boas, for example, thanks to the transfer of Jakub Kiwi. I can easily imagine a scenario in which Victor Froholdt leaves FC Porto in the summer, and Mazurek arrives ", added Kuba Polkowski, his panel companion.

Who is Bartosz Mazurek anyway?

Born in Bialystok, the young promise fulfilled training in Jagiellonia Bialystok, having debuted by the main team on March 9, 2025, had barely celebrated the 17th anniversary, by the ‘hand’ of Adrian Siemieniec, who launched it during the triumph won in the visit to Widzew Lodz, for 0-1.

Then he had the opportunity to share a spa with several ‘known faces’ of Portuguese football, as was the case with Tomás Silva, João Moutinho, Edi Semedo or... Oskar Pietuszewski, who, in the following month of January, would end up heading, precisely, to FC Porto, in an operation that may still amount to ten million euros.

The Polish sub-21 international would also be ‘change of air’, half a year later, and soon won a seat in the initial eleven of Salzburg, so that he was called to participate in all 15 games played since the start of the new sports season of 2026/27, with two goals and three assists in the middle.

Benfica is also aware

Besides FC Porto, also Borussia Dortmund, Brighton and even Benfica have referred to the name Bartosz Mazurek. In fact, in August, he gave an interview to the Polish portal Stolica Sportu, in which he confessed that, before arriving in Austria, he was the subject of a concrete approach by the direction led by Rui Costa.

“There were other options. Benfica was indeed one of them”, said, before justifying the preference for Salzburg: “They explained to me in huge detail what opportunities I would have here and what plan the club has for me. I also know that players like [Erling] Haaland, [Dominik] Szoboszlai or [Karim] Adeyemi have passed through here.”.
